Refractaria is investigating techniques for the reuse of refractories derived from the demolition of linings from the cement and glass industries.

Refractaria, in its continuous commitment to innovation and the circular economy, has launched a new project:
· IDE-2021-000563: Investigation of techniques for the reuse of refractories derived from the demolition of linings from the cement and glass industries.
The aim of the project is to investigate techniques to decontaminate, totally or partially, the infiltrations present in zirconium and silicon carbide materials derived from the demolition of cement and glass kilns in order to prevent them from ending up in the landfill.
Through this project, it has been possible to remove or reduce the impregnation present in these materials to acceptable levels so that it is feasible to use the aggregates obtained from them in the manufature of new refractory materials.
The duration of the project spans from January 2023 to December 2023.
This project has received funding from both the government of the Principality of Asturias through IDEPA and the Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (PCTI) 2018-2022, as well as from the European Union through FEDER.
